A Ph.D. student position is available my lab. at the Max-Delbrück Center in Berlin (Germany). The laboratory offers several exciting projects in the field of developmental biology. The environment of a young research group guarantees good mentoring; state of the art facilities and an established PhD program (http://www.mdc-berlin.de/en/phd_ausbildung/phd_program/index.html) are available at the institute.

The main focus of my laboratory is to elucidate the mechanisms that pattern and establish competence within the embryonic endoderm in order to generate distinct organs, such as the pancreas and liver. Toward this aim we perform comparative studies using both amphibian and mammalian model systems, including mouse models and embryonic stem cells.

Interested applicants should be highly motivated, hold a recent university degree (M.Sc. or German diploma), and have a background in molecular and cell biology. Experience in animal models is a plus. Candidates should be fluent in English.
