The University Hospital of Münster encompasses clinics and polyclinics as well as institutes specializing in research, training and in- as well as outpatient care. More than 7.200 employees work in the different departments and institutes of the University Hospital. With 1.400 beds, it is one of the largest University hospitals in Germany providing the highest level of medical care.


For the Department of Internal Medicine (Hematology/Oncology)

We are looking for:

A PhD student
(Biology / Biochemistry / Life Sciences)

To complement our internationally staffed research team.

Our group is interested in the elucidation of Molecular mechanisms of Leukemogenesis, focussing on epigenetic regulation.

The successful candidate will study the relevance of epigenetic mechanisms in leukemogenesis and cancer stem cells using novel and innovative technology such as ChIP-Chip/ChIP-Seq and inducible mouse models. For example, see (Choudary et al., Mol Cell 2009; Agrawal et al., Blood 2007; Hoemme et al., Blood 2008; Agrawal et al., Blood 2007).

The appointment will be for 2 years initially with the possibility of renewal. Salary is at the level of TV-L E13.

We expect:
•Solid molecular and cell biology skills
•Preferably experience in epigenetics or bioinformatics or mouse models
•High interest in basic and translational research
•Excellent communication skills
•High motivation, diligent, responsible, and independent way of working
