We are a group of Physicians and Biologists/ Physiologists working on ion-channels. Main focus of our work group is on Organ fibrosis, Cardiovascular diseases and hypertension. For recent publications see:

1. Renal fibrosis is attenuated by targeted disruption of KCa3.1 potassium channels. PNAS 2009 106(34):14518-23.

2. Genetic deficit of SK3 and IK1 channels disrupts the endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor vasodilator pathway and causes hypertension. Circulation. 2009 119(17):2323-32.

3. Endothelial Ca+-activated K+ channels in normal and impaired EDHF-dilator responses--relevance to cardiovascular pathologies and drug discovery. Br J. Pharmacol. 2009 157(4):509-26.

Techniques: Patch Clamp, Myograph, Native cell isolation and culture, PCR, RT-PCR, Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry, Histology, Site-directed Mutagenesis etc.

Two PhD positions are available in our work group in a DFG funded project on cation channels. Interested candidates with background in Physiology, Biology, Biochemistry or Medicine/ Human Biology and strong interest in research in medicine are encouraged to apply. The applicants having experience in electrophysiology and molecular biology will be given preference.
