The Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology provides excellent research opportunities in the interdisciplinary field of infectious diseases. The glycobiology group, headed by Ram Sasisekharan, is studying the role of glycans in transmission and pathogenesis of infectious diseases. The group in Singapore aims on transforming this knowledge into anti-infective strategies including biomarker and drug discovery.

We are looking for motivated PhD students to participate in our growing research activities. The minimum qualification requires a B.Sc. or equivalent in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology. Previous work experience in virology, cell culture, assay development, genetics, and/or structural biology is an advantage, but not required. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team and in a multi-national environment are essential.

We offer a highly productive and stimulating work environment with the latest state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The position will be based in the vibrant city of Singapore with an opportunity to conduct part of the research at our MIT facilities in Boston. Internationally competitive Fellowships are available (http://web.mit.edu/smart/graduate/index.html). Successful applicants will further benefit from outstanding educational opportunities at National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and a number of additional high-ranking research institutions.
