At the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, a full-time PhD student position (TVL E13/2) is available from January 2009 in the Emmy Noether-Group headed by Dr. Daniela C. Dieterich. The position is funded by a DIP grant (German-Israeli cooperation grants) for initially 3 years.

Research focuses on the molecular and systemic investigation of synaptic plasticity. A variety of methods are available including proteomics, fluorescence microscopy, primary cell culture, organic synthesis and molecular biology. Experience in the field of neurobiology and practical knowledge in the methods of protein chemistry, mammalian cell culture and molecular biology are desirable, but are not a requirement. The position requires a Diploma or MA and/or BA in a relevant field, such as neuroscience, biology or chemistry. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, conducting and analyzing experiments and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary and international research team.
