The Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin invites applications for a PhD position.
The position is available from May 2010 and limited to 3 years. The successful candidate will participate in a project on new methods of photosynthesis measurement which is funded by the joint German-Israeli water technology research program.

The intended work is focussed on comparative measurements of photosynthesis of phytoplankton by 14C, prompt and delayed fluorescence methods under laboratory and in situ conditions, on measurement of the underwater light and analysis of photosynthesis – light relations and on implementation of a novel profiler for assessment of primary production in a monitoring station.
Requirements include completed studies in the field of plant physiology and/or limnology, experience with photosynthesis measurements and pigment analyses (HPLC)and good command in English.
