Topic:
Linking genetic variability with ecological responses to environmental changes: forest trees as model systems.

We offer:
1 PhD position for 3 years (50% TV-H E13)starting April 1st 2010

A new field will be explored in ecological genetics of forest trees. The focus of the project will be the study of adaptively relevant genetic variation along ecological gradients. It will combine experimental ecological with next generation molecular methods. International cooperation will provide an excellent platform for exchange and training activities.

Prerequisites:
The applicant must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent (German diploma) in a discipline relevant to the specified project (ecology, biodiversity, molecular genetics or similar fields) with an excellent academic record. The applicant must be highly motivated, well organised and to some degree self-starting. Experience in population genetics/genomics and experimental ecophysiology is welcome. The internationality of the project implies adequate knowledge of the English language.

Please, send applications by February 28th, 2010 to Dr Sascha Liepelt, Faculty of Biology, University of Marburg, Karl-von-Frisch-Str. 8, D-35032 Marburg, or by email.
