A PhD position is immediately available in the research field of nociceptive TRP (transient receptor potential) channels. The project aims to understand how changes in the lipid environment and protein-protein interactions can influence characteristics of such ion channels. Additionally we want to examine the function of TRP channels in signal transduction complexes. This work will include a wide spectrum of techniques (cell culture, electrophysiological techniques, fluorescence microscopy, and molecular biology).

Practical experience in one of the techniques mentioned is a plus but no prerequisite. Candidates must hold a diploma/master degree in biology, biochemistry, biophysics or a closely related field. The candidates should have a keen interest in science, be highly motivated and be able to work both independently and in a team.

We offer modern laboratories fully equipped with all necessary instruments and an intensive training and supervision during the PhD thesis. We support the presentation of experimental results in publications and the active participation in scientific meetings. The position is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) for 3 years and the salary is based on German TV-L guidelines (E13/2).
