We have an open PhD position at the Department of Molecular Parasitology, which is funded by German Research Foundation (DFG) within the framework
of Collaborative Research Center (SFB618). The title of the project is: Membrane Biogenesis Modeling of a Toxoplasma gondii-Infected Human Cell and Deduction of Underlying Principles Dictating the ParasiteHost Interactions The proposed research intends to elucidate the phospholipid metabolism of an obligate intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii and of its parasitized human cell. This project aims to integrate the experimental and computational approaches to construct a kinetic model that represents the molecular interactions between the phospholipid syntheses of T. gondii and its host cell. The project includes in vitro parasite culture in human fibroblasts, the immuno-fluorescence localization of enzymes in T. gondii and the genetic manipulation of parasite. The project is suitable for the students with long-term carrier objectives in Infection Biology. It is funded for the entire duration of a PhD thesis beginning from July 2010 until June 2013. The deadline for application is June 30, 2010. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Von: Nishith Gupta This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
