The basis of project is to identify predisposing genetic factors and role of such genetic factors in the disease outcome. The project will involve the use of HapMap data to identify haplotypes and tagging single nucleotide polymorphisms to capture maximum information about the involvement of haplotypes in risk modulation of the disease. The research work will involve extensive use of bioinformatics, biostatistics and elaborate laboratory work. The project is being carried out in joint collaboration between Institute of Human Genetics, University of Heidelberg and Division of Molecular Genetic Epidemiology, German Cancer Research Center. The funding is guaranteed for three years.
