The Institute of Molecular Psychiatry at the University Bonn together with the DZNE (Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen) offers an immediate opening for a PhD position for research training focusing on the role of the endocannabinoid system in neurodegeneration. The Institute of Molecular Psychiatry occupies a leading position in the investigation of the endocannabinoid system in neuroinflammation. The DZNE is a newly created center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that is engaged in translational research on neurodegenerative diseases. The center includes a major site in Bonn and additional sites in Goettingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tuebingen and Witten. Thus, this position offers the opportunity to work in an international, collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
The project includes the analysis of the cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) in neurodegenerative disorders with the help of genetic or pharmacological mouse models. The project encompasses a variety of technologies including confocal laser scanning microscopy, multi colour flow cytometry and behavioral analyses.
